BIO: Jean Ness, [JNESS] Brooklyn born, Zulu Nation trained graffiti artist
(circa 1985), hip-hop culture enthusiast. I studied at the School of
Visual Arts/NY. I am a graphic designer/computer illustrator. I have been
in the advertising/marketing arena as a designer for 8 years now. This is
where I learned that the term Art Department has nothing to do with art.
CORRECTION, it's the art of doing what you are told.
Needless to say, my creativity is really expressed through my personal
art, much more than at the work place. My BBW illustrations, allow me to
express the way I see big beautiful women. I am not against thin women,
but I am for big women. My art is a reflection of their beauty and power.
I try to bring out the many sides of the BBW, defying, and confronting,
society's' view of her.
Take for example my SCARLET MEMORIES COLLECTION:
Unlike most of the work out there, this collection is strictly computer
generated vector based illustrations using Adobe Illustrator. I came up
with the concept in 1992, but never took the project past the first
illustration “Big Red” which was originally done by hand with alcohol ink
on acid-free Bristol board. The title [SCARLET MEMORIES] is the reflection
of products we've always been accustomed to, being seen in a new artistic
light. Same goes for the full figured models, their silhouettes are
against what society says is beautiful-art, hence I portray them in a new
artistic light, or better yet as I have always seen them — as works of
art. EYE CANDY.
BBW Illustrations, BBW ART, even BBW Super
heroes. Enjoy the art of JNESS, as he is joined by other
wonderful artists showing their love and artistic appreciation for
the purest beauty...the BBW.
